Daemon Monster Scarmiglione

It's amazing how many bits of art I generate off the back of Dungeons and Dragons games I've played, and this chappy is another one of those. Though I'm steering my career increasingly towards digital art, I still keep a hand in traditional sculpting as a pastime. This creature is sculpted in a clay called Super Sculpey, and is sculpted over a twisted metal wire armature that's been reinforced with epoxy. Those of you out there who are big Final Fantasy fans, you may have an idea of where his name comes from... ;)

This is the creature as it was just before baking. Certain features had to be added later as the creature was only just able to fit in the oven, and even then it had to be baked on its back!

After baking, horns, talons, claws and a few other features that couldn't be added before baking were added with an epoxy putty called Milliput. The creature has also now been primed in acrylic grey primer.

This is the creature in its current state, where it has had its flesh airbrushed. Hopefully, I'll soon be able to reveal a finished creature to you all.
